Guido Klumpe, born in Osnabrück in 1971 with a severe visual impairment, creates minimalist photographs that transform urban architecture into abstract, almost painterly compositions. Through reduction, unusual perspectives and carefully considered compositions, he challenges our familiar perception of space and reality. For Klumpe, the power of photography lies not in seeing itself, but in the creative interpretation of what is visible.

His visual language moves between abstraction and narrative. Condensed views of urban architecture meet fleeting moments captured in the spirit of street photography. This unusual combination opens up new perspectives on the urban environment—far removed from documentary reality and closer to subjective imagination. The result is a series of visual constructions that invite the viewer’s imagination to become part of the work.

Inspired by artists such as Franco Fontana, Saul Leiter and Piet Mondrian, Klumpe creates images that reveal the expressive power of form, line, colour and surface. His work offers a new, poetic perspective on everyday life—surprising, playful and rich in visual tension.

His photographs have been published internationally on numerous occasions and have been exhibited and awarded in solo and group exhibitions, including at NordArt, Photo Kyiv Fair, Art Karlsruhe and ImageNation New York. He is a regular recipient of international photography awards, including the Minimalist Photography Awards, the Fine Art Photography Awards and the Urban Photo Awards.
